would you like a bag with your religion, miss?
so so so true. i am a pagan at heart. ironic, isn't it? a child brought up in catholicism feels more affinity with the religion christianity stomped upon and stained with rumours, calling it "devil worship". if ANY of you believe that witches worship the devil, cast evil spells and curses, drink babies' blood and offer virginal lives as sacrificial offerings... FUCK YOU. take a look at the witch hunting era. who did the accusing, torturing and burning "in the name of the Lord". yeah. that's right. think about it. think of all the cultures christianity imposed itself upon. all the blood spilt in the name of religion. wake up honey. religion is man made. i do not have anything against "god" or christians. i have a problem with religion. well said =)
the structure of religion is very suspect and i'm sure the more educated we are, the more liable we are to have bones to pick with organised religion. however, won't we all feel very lost indeed if everythin is interpretational?
bad men may run our church but that is the price of free will. for Catholic dogma is infallible when proclaimed ex cathedra from the pontiff. everythin else is fallible, i contend even the church interpretation of the bible. many such as Joan Of Arc, Galileo and others were martyred for heresy and this does no credit for the Church. but i think a practical way to go about it is that to know the Son Of Man said to peter, "whatever you hold true on earth, i will hold true in heaven".
if i preach too much, forgive me. if i patronise, forgive me. but i can only mean you well alysia. a blog entry about my personal struggle is titled "What Is Constant" if you want to read.
i will say one for you. god bless.
i agree with ur standing on faith. very touching post by the way. i don't disregard faith as human folly at all. i have my own beliefs and my own faith, after all.
all the same, i despise religion. but that's just me. =)
now u got me thinking about wat truly is constant... *tick* *tick*
